Notice of public display and public consultation of the environmental impact assessment report
Start of publication: 31.01.2020
End of publication: indefinite
The Tarbijakaitse ja Tehnilise Järelevalve Amet publishes a notice under paragraphs 21 and 16(2)(1) of the Law on environmental impact assessment and management systems (KeHJS).

The Office for Consumer protection and technical Surveillance (“THE TASK”) informs the Tapa – Tartu railway section 417,3 to 421,6 km of the publication of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report on the replacement of the existing residential/Vorbuse/Jänes bridge (new construction) and the conversion of low-radius curves.

THE APPLICANT initiated the EIA in question by Decision No 1-10/18-353 of 29.10.2018.
AS Eesti Raudtee wishes to reconstruct the Tapa-Tartu section, which will create a new bridge over Emajõe. The construction of the new bridge will be accompanied by an adjustment of the existing low-radius curves to approximately 2,2 km. The existing metallic bridge running across the nurse has been depreciated and it is appropriate to build a new bridge on the basis of a bridge study carried out. The proposed bridge is to be built to the north-east of the existing bridge. The main objective of the reconstruction of the railway section is to enable the speed of trains to be increased and to ensure safety on the Tapa-Tartu railways. The construction of a new bridge is expected to have an impact on aquatic life and neighbouring natural communities. The EIA will be carried out in the course of the construction project and a geodetic and geological study and land improvement project will be prepared in conjunction with the construction project.
