Notice of initiation of a strategic environmental assessment

The Ministry of the Environment publishes a notice pursuant to paragraph 35(6) of the Law on environmental impact assessment and management system (KeHJS).

The Ministry of the Environment announced that it had launched a Strategic environmental assessment (sea)
by order No 293 of 25 March 2015 entitled “Development Plan for Adaptation to Climate change 2030”.
The development plan is designed to ensure the readiness and ability of Estonia to adapt to the effects of climate change. This means that the entire population, public and local authorities, the private sector and businesses, as well as society at large, are aware of climate change, are capable of properly assessing, responding to and adapting to the risks of change and thus avoiding the negative effects of climate change and maximising its positive effects on
.The strategic environmental assessment was initiated on the basis of paragraphs 33(1)(1), 6(1), 34(1), 35(1), (2) and (5) of the Law on environmental impact assessment and management and on the basis of paragraphs 10(1) and 11 of Decree No 168 of the Government of the Republic of 10 December 2009, entitled “statute of the Ministry of the Environment”, and having regard to the approval of the proposal for the drawing up of Resolution No 108 of the Government of the Republic of 27 February 2015, entitled “Development Plan for Adaptation to Climate change 2030”, in the
