Notice of initiation of the mining authorisation procedure

The Environment Agency publishes a notice under paragraph 47(2) of the General Law on the Environment (KeÜS).

The Environment Agency reports that AS Silikaat (registry code: 10022296) (address Silikaltsiidi TN 8, Nõmme district, Tallinn, Harju county, 11216) submitted an application for an extension of the extraction permit for the silver peat production area (registered under document management system of the Environment Agency: 11.08.2017 No 12-2/17/9344).

The mining permit for the silver peat production area is applied for in the municipality of Kehtna, County Rapla, in the village of PAE. The silver peat production area is located in a silver peat deposit (registry card No 0110) in the cadastral parcel of the silver peat production area (cadastral Identifier 29201:002:1140) owned by the Republic of Estonia, managed by the Ministry of the Environment and authorised by the Earth Authority.

The area covered by the application for the silver peat production area is 77.10 ha and the area covered by the mountain allocation is 83.68 ha. According to the authorisation application, the active consumption of low-surplus hay peat is 93 thousand t and the active consumption of well-degraded peat is 212 thousand t. the application States that the extraction of depleted peat is 93 thousand t and that the extraction of well-degraded peat is 183 thousand t. the maximum annual mining rate for the mineral resource is 12 thousand t. the fields of exploitation are horticulture and energy. The period of validity of the authorisation applied for is 30 years.

until a decision is taken on the granting or refusal of mining authorisation, everyone has the right to submit reasoned proposals and objections to the application to the Environment Agency. Proposals and objections may be submitted orally or in writing to an e-mail address at the laane@keskkonnaamet.ee or postal address Tallinna mnt 14, 79513, Rapla.

The preparation of the draft mining permit will be further notified by the Environment Agency in the official publication Ametlikud Teadaanded.
