Notice of initiation of the mining authorisation procedure

The Environment Agency publishes a notice under paragraph 47(2) of the General Law on the Environment (KeÜS).

The Environment Agency reports that AS Tartu Jõujaam (registry code: 10240886) (address: Lohkva Village, Municipality of Luunja, 62207 Tartu County) submitted an application for authorisation to exploit mineral resources on the mining allocation of the Keressaare peat production area.

The purported mountain allocation for the Keressaare peat production area is located at the Keressaare peat production area (cadastral mark 86102:001:0083, registration number 2563004) at the Keressaare peat deposit in the Crown of Keressaare in Tartu County (registry number 0257). The State property Attorney is the Ministry of Environment and the Delegated Authority is the Maa-amet.

The area covered by the mountain allocation for the peat production area is 172.02 ha and the area covered by the mountain allocation is 202.98 ha. As of 20.11.2017, the active consumption of low-earth peat associated with mining reserves was 190 thousand t, of which 190 thousand t are mined and the active consumption of well-degraded peat was 641 thousand t, of which 583 thousand t are mined for a maximum annual mining rate of 23 thousand t. the quantity of coating is 0 thousand m3, of which the quantity of soil is 0 thousand m3. Mineral resources are used for horticulture and energy. The period of validity of the authorisation applied for shall be 30 years.

The decision to initiate the procedure for applications for authorisation to exploit mineral resources and other relevant documents can be consulted at the nearest office of the Environment Agency (tel 776 2419, e-mail info@keskkonnaamet.ee).
The application is available digitally from the Register of documents of the Environment Agency at http://dhs-ADR-kea.envir.ee/.

Until such time as a decision is taken to grant or refuse authorisation, everyone has the right to submit reasoned proposals and objections to the application to the Environment Agency. The preparation of the draft mining permit decision will be further notified by the Environment Agency in the Official Gazette Ametlikud Teadaanded.
