Notice of initiation of the mining authorisation procedure

The Environment Agency publishes a notice under paragraph 47(2) of the General Law on the Environment (KeÜS).

The Environment Agency reports that AS Tartu power station (registry code: 10240886) (address: Lohkva Village, Municipality of Luunja, 62207 Tartu County) submitted an application for authorisation to exploit mineral resources on the mining allocation of the Keressaare II peat production area.

The purported mountain allocation for the Keressaare II peat production area is located in the town of Sookaldus in Tartu, commune of the Pipsia area, in the national area of the cadastral district of Keressaare peat production area 2 (cadastral mark 86102:001:0403, registration number 4809104) in the Keressaare peat storage area (registration card No 0257). The State property Attorney is the Ministry of Environment and the Delegated Authority is the Maa-amet.

The area covered by the mountain allocation for peat production area II is 55,02 ha and the area covered by the mountain allocation is 48,16 ha. As of 08.09.2017, the low level of consumption of scarce peat associated with mining reserves was 66 thousand t, of which 66 thousand t are mined and the level of the high level of consumption of well-degraded peat was 164 thousand t, of which 148 thousand t are mined. the maximum annual mineral extraction rate is 8 thousand t. the quantity of overburden is 0 thousand m3, of which the quantity of soil is 0 thousand m3. Mineral resources are used for energy purposes. The period of validity of the authorisation applied for shall be 30 years.

The decision to initiate the procedure for applications for authorisation to exploit mineral resources and other relevant documents can be consulted at the nearest office of the Environment Agency (tel 776 2419, e-mail info@keskkonnaamet.ee).
The application is available digitally from the Register of documents of the Environment Agency at http://dhs-ADR-kea.envir.ee/.

Until such time as a decision is taken to grant or refuse authorisation, everyone has the right to submit reasoned proposals and objections to the application to the Environment Agency. The preparation of the draft mining permit decision will be further notified by the Environment Agency in the Official Gazette Ametlikud Teadaanded.
