Notice of public display of and public consultation of an environmental impact assessment report

Keskkonnaamet publishes this announcement under sections 21 and 16(2)(1) of the environmental impact assessment and Management system Act (KeHJS).

Environmental Agency announces the publication of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report for the Enefit Kaevandused AS application for modification and extension of mining permit KMIN-119 for the Ahtme II mine.

The Environment Agency initiated an environmental impact assessment of the planned activities by letter No 12-2/19/274-8 of 28.05.2019.
The objective of the proposed operation is to extend the mining permit KMIN-119 (Ahtme II) for the Enefit mines to a solution of 102,45 ha in the mine in Jõetagas and to extend the validity of the permit by 22 years, i.e. until 2049. Authorisation is sought for the extraction of oil shale for energy and the oil shale industry (heating and oil shale). The current mining deposit at the Ahtme II mine and the requested Jõetagus solvent unit are located in the municipality of Alutagus in Ida-Viru in the middle of the Estonian oil shale deposit and in the southern part of the Ahtme excavation.

Proposals, objections and questions about the EIA report can be submitted at until 22.11.2020 (inclusive), Viljandi mnt 16, Tallinn or e-mail to info@keskkonnaamet.ee.

The public consultation of the EIA report takes place at 30.11.2020 at 14.00 in Mäetaguse (address park 1, Mäetaguse Province, Municipality of Alutagus, 41301 East Viru County)..
