Notice of initiation of proceedings for an environmental permit'

Keskkonnaamet publishes this announcement under Section 47(2) of the General Law on the Environment (KeÜS).

Keskkonnaamet declares that Nordkalk AS (registry code: 10656606) (address F. R. Faehlmanni tee 11a, Rakke alevik, Väike-Maarja vald, Lääne-Viru maakond 46301) the application for amendment of the environmental permit for the Kurevere dolomite quarry submitted by the applicant has been accepted. Nordkalk AS seeks an extension of the environmental permit FOR the extraction of the mineral resources of the Kurevere dolomite quarry and an amendment of environmental permit L.VV/331833 for special water use. When permits are processed, environmental permits shall be merged and a single environmental permit shall be created. The curved dolomite quarry is located in Pärnu, in the municipality of West Anna, on the territory of the village of Esivere, leaving the quarry of Kurevere (90% mining land, 10% arable land), owned by the licence holder, 19501:002:0371. The mountain allocation has an area of 6.77 ha and the earned area of the mountain allocation is 19.38 ha. Within the limits of the mountain allocation, the quantity of building dolomite is 165,5 thousand m3, of which 165,5 thousand m3 are mined. The maximum annual production capacity is 50 thousand m3. Nordkalk AS seeks an increase of up to 1 150 000 m3/year in the volume of quarry water discharged from the Kurevere, Kurevere II and Esivere doloival quarries and discarded into receiving waters. The purpose of the amendment is to establish a new body of water discharged from the quarry, since, at very high times of rainfall, the quantities of water discharged are close to the licensed limit. The purpose of the application is to extend the environmental permit for a period of 30 years.

The decision to initiate the amendment procedure environmental permit and other relevant documents are available on at the nearest Office of the Environment Agency.
The application shall be digitally available on from the environmental decision information system to https://kotkas.envir.ee/

Until the amendment of the environmental permit decision is made, any person has the right to submit reasoned proposals and objections to the To the Environment Agency. Proposals and objections may be submitted orally or in writing to an e-mail address info@keskkonnaamet.ee or to a postal address Tallinna 22, Kuressaare, the vald of Saaremaa, Island County 93819. 

The draft of Decision amending the environmental permit will be announced by the Environmental Agency in the Official Announcements.
