Keskkonnaamet publishes this announcement under Section 16(2)(1) of the environmental impact assessment and Management system Act (KeHJS).

Environmental Agency announces the publication of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) programme of the Enefit power AS Estonia II application for a mining permit for oil shale.

The Environment Agency initiated an environmental impact assessment of the planned activities by letter No 12-2/19/456-11 of 17.12.2019.
The proposed activity aims at the extraction of oil shale. The planned production volume of the new mine is up to 10 million t of oil shale per year. On the requested mountain allocation, the stock is estimated to continue for about 30 years (expected end 2064). The total size of the stock to be extracted is 277.535 million t. the area applied for is 9 107.63 ha. Estonia II Mountain reserve is located in the municipality of Alutagus in Ida-Viru County.

Proposals, objections and questions about the EIA programme can be submitted at up to and including 09.07.2021, at the info@keskkonnaamet.ee address of the 15 th, Jõhvi or email park in the decision-makers' contacts.

The public consultation of the EIA programme takes place at 21.07.2021 at 14.00 a.m. at the Mountain Service Center (address Park 5, Mountain Bay, Municipality of Alutagus, 41301 East Viru County). For pre-registration at the meeting, please send a request to participate no later than 19.07.2021 to the address camilla.kastein@keskkonnaamet.ee..
