Keskkonnaamet publishes this announcement under Clause 1 of subsection 2 of § 16 of the Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Management System Act (KeHJS).

Environmental Board announces the publication of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) programme of the Application for extraction permit for mineral resources in the peat production area of Ulila III.

As a decision-maker, the Environmental Board announces that it has initiated an environmental impact assessment of an application for an environmental permit for the peat production area of Ulila III by letter No DM-121677-3 of 26.10.2022.
AS Tootsi Peat applies for an environmental permit in the peat production area of Ulila III for an environmental permit for the extraction of mineral resources on the properties of the ship metskond 11 and 24 (KU characteristics 60502:004:0036 and 83101:002:0155). The area of the mining claim for the Ulila III peat production area is 299.58 ha and the area of the mining claim service area is 321.91 ha. According to the application, the mineral resources to be extracted are well - (active stockpile 1508 ash, of which the extracted stockpile 1406 ash t) and low-degraded peat (active stockpile 190 ash t and extracted stockpile 190 ash t) and its intended use is horticulture and energy. The maximum annual rate of extraction according to the explanatory memorandum to the application is 20 ash. the period of validity of the extraction permit applied for is 30 years.

The public consultation of the EIA programme takes place at 26.03.2024 at 18 a.m. at Ulila Center (Park 1, Ulila, Elva Parish)..
