Notice of initiation of the mining authorisation procedure

The Environment Agency publishes a notice under paragraph 47(2) of the General Law on the Environment (KeÜS).

The Environment Agency reports that AS Jiffy products Estonia (registry code: 10053049) (address Pärnu County, Pärnu City, Pärnu City, Papiniidu TN 5a/1) submitted an application for authorisation to exploit a resource in the elbou or peat production area.

Authorisation to exploit mineral resources is sought at the Lavassaare peat site in Pärnu County Town (registry card No 0197). The mountain allocation and its catchment area are located on land owned by the Republic of Estonia in the Halinga district 39 (cadastral code 73001:001:0818, designated for 100% arable land). The requested mountain allocation includes 94 blocks of active consumable stock of scarce peat at the Lavassaare peat deposit (registry card No 0197) and 95 blocks of active consumable stock of well-degraded peat.

The area of the mountain allocation applied for is 498.03 ha and the area of that service is 498.03 ha. Within the limit of the mountain allocation applied for, the active consumption of the low-depleted peat is 1 874 thousand t, of which the stock to be extracted is 1 874 thousand t. the fields of use of the mineral resource are horticulture and peat. The mining company is named AS Jiffy products Estonia (registry code 10053049; address Papiniidu tn 5a/1 Pärnu, Pärnumaa 80010). The mining permit applied for is valid for 30 years.

The decision to initiate the mineral extraction authorisation procedure and other relevant documents can be consulted at the nearest office of the Environment Agency (tel 435 5621, e-mail info@keskkonnaamet.ee).
The application is available digitally from the Register of documents of the Environment Agency at https://dhs-ADR-kea.envir.ee/.

Until such time as a decision is taken to grant or refuse authorisation, everyone has the right to submit reasoned proposals and objections to the Environment Agency. The preparation of the draft mining permit decision will be further notified by the Environment Agency in the Official Gazette Ametlikud Teadaanded.
