Justiitsministeerium publishes this announcement under Section 120(2) of the judicial Act (KS).

The Minister of Justice announces a competition for Assistant judge in one land registry division of the Tartu Maakohus (District Court, Tartu) and assistant judge in two registry divisions.

Requirements for assistant judges:

1. Education as required by § 47(1)1) of KS;
2. Proficiency in Estonian (C1 or equivalent);
3. High moral character.

A person who has completed the preparation program for judicial assistance may be appointed an assistant judge if the competition committee has not released the person from the implementation of the preparatory plan for judicial assistance. The selection board may exempt a person who has worked for at least two years in a position or job requiring legal knowledge and for whom the selection board considers that previous work experience allows the person to take up the position of assistant judge without completing the preparatory plan for judicial assistance. A person who has passed the judicial examination may also be appointed an assistant judge (§ 115 (1) and (2) of KS).

An application with information on which position to be applied for, a copy of one’s document proving one’s identity and Estonian nationality, a copy of one’s document certifying education, a curriculum vitae and a confirmation that the candidate complies with the requirements of the Courts Act and the Civil Service Act must be submitted to the Ministry of Justice under the heading “Assistant Judge Competition” at the following address: Suur-Ameerika 1, 10122 Tallinn, or by electronic means to konkurss.kohus@just.ee by no later than 27.09.2021.

Assistant judge’s salary is EUR 2199,72.
